About

LaGuardia Community College of the City University of New York has a long-standing commitment to the pedagogy of learning communities. The installment of digital components in our course has been motivated by Community 2.0, the newest iteration of LaGuardia's commitment to collaborative learning and its commitment to developing meaningful connections for students and faculty, across disciplines and classes, using the web. As a hybrid face-to-face and online initiative, Community 2.0 uses non-proprietary web tools such as Twitter, Blogger, Ning, and Facebook to connect students, professors, and classes together into networked learning communities. The primary goal of Community 2.0, a vertical (non-cohort) learning community, is to connect students to one another, to students and professors in other classes, to the wider college community, and to the world via the web. More than a theoretical or training initiative, Community 2.0 aims towards the production of new knowledge-bases in education and digital learning.
